Help and advice needed. 2000 Accord V6 with Transmission Issues. Should the warranty Apply?
So I bought a 2000 Accord V6 with a salvage title from the auction. I've been driving it for awhile now with no problems, but lately I noticed the ATF is leaking and the transmission is shifting really harshly. The RPM's are also spiking before shifts.
Well the car has 82k miles on it, and I found out that because of defects in the transmissions for that year, Honda did an automatic warranty extension for 7 years/100k on the transmission.
Now I've been told 2 things;
1. Because the car was in an accident, Honda's warranty will not be honored <period>
2. Because the transmission has known factory defects, they should still honor the warranty.
I should say too, that the damage from the accident was on the rear bumper, if that matters at all.
Thanks alot for you help guys.
CLIFFS~
2000 Salvage title Honda Accord w/ 82k
Transmission is going bad
Honda admitted defects in the transmission, extending warranties to 7 years/100k
Should it still be covered at all?
What are your recommended alternatives if not. I've swapped a transmission before, so I'm sure I could do this one aswell.

Yes Honda should honor the warranty
DON'T tell them the car has been in a wreck, they don't do title searches or carfax on every car that comes thru the service dept.
I just went thru this with a friend that had a civic with emission problems, the dealer said 'no' because the car had a replacement fender on the front, my friend called the American Honda 1-800 customer service, and got the work done for free including a new exhaust manifold/Cat.
If your trans is leaking at the axle seals, the differential bearings are shot, all the metal chips from the bearings contaminate the entire system.

if they run a vin ststus inquiry and see the warranty has been canceled then that will be the final word from honda. As soon as a car is declared totaled (on the title) American Honda will probably know.
But if it were me i just wouldn't mention it. If they don't notice it's on them.

thanks for the help so far.
Yeah its leaking right underneath the transmission, at the seals.
The problem is I took it in today and they did deny me due to the title, should I just try going somewhere else and hoping they won't catch it?
If the warranty won't work, I can get a new transmission from honda for like $2300.00 is that going to be the least expensive way?
I heard that due to this defect in workmanship a rebuild is not going to work.
