Default hamp filters

hey guys I've been searching on the hamp filters and i have found a lot of different part numbers for them and some have been discontinued and was wondering which are the ones most people use today and which part numbers are they. i wasn't sure if the large hamps have been discontinued and are only the small ones available. just let me know which one of the hamp filters you would recommend for a NA GSR

I also posted this in the hybrid forum but seems kind of slow

I like the small hamps myself. I got a bunch when I was at ICB motorsport. Alot of people think they make VTEC kick in a little harder due to the increased oil pressure. I don't know about the VTEC thing, but I do know that higher oil pressure is always good.

what motor do you use them on? Are they the large or small ones? If they are the small ones do they have the same filtration as the older style big ones? thanks.

HAMP is "honda" supposedly, I have no knowledge of wether or not that is true...

Even if it is, however, still, save your money...stock (honeywell or whichever) is more than sufficient (c'mon...honda motors have run for over 300,000 miles without any special treatment), and there is absolutely nothing to gain from spending 4x the amount of this particular filter.

But like I said before, if it makes you feel better then no one is stopping you, just know that it's not going to protect your engine any better or give you any extra power whatsoever.

I think last time I bought a couple honda filters they were like $3-4.... hamp is more like $15 after shipping. If you MUST burn $12 extra on each oil change, thanks to marketing hype, I have a paypal donation fun that you can send $10 to (what a bargain!) and I'll write you back with a letter that'll make you feel more warm and fuzzy inside than the filter ;-). I may even include a tip or two that'll actually GET you more power ;-).

Nathan

I really like the K&N Gold and the Mobil 1 filters (they are pretty much the same)--I think they're better than the Honda filters. The OEM filters are made by somebody and its not Honda--just because it says Honda on it doesn't mean it can't be improved. If you are going to spend over $10 on a filter I would get the K&N.
