i finally got ahold of a spare valve cover and i want to go ahead and paint it, but i dont have the best of luck with painting. everytime i paint something, it flakes or chips very shortly. Can someone either point me in the right direction to a GOOD write up of what steps to do, or just go ahead and explain it to me in your own steps. i have noticed many nice valve covers on here so i would like to know the correct steps. i have read through some other threads but many of them say different things so i want to know the correct methods for painting it do to the rough textured paint, so please dont tell me to search, i already have. thanks for any help.

P.S. i dont really have access to a paint sprayer or sand blaster, it will be spray cans and paper/ wire brushes. thanks
