Default 2006 2-door Recall campaign -- rear windows

Just a heads up for everyone:

From Honda:
Notifications to the 776 owners of 06 Civic 2 doors affected by the rear window or quarter glass rattle or loseness recall were mailed on sept 27th.

The same vehicles are also affected by service bulliten 06-070 :: SRS indicator light stays on and DTC 86-25. both product updates should be completed at the same time.

Background info:
on sept 15th AHM informed dealers that they had annouced to the NHTSA its intention to recall certain 06 Civic 2 doors becase of improper window opening preparation could cause poor adhesion of the quarter glass windows and the rear window.

Repair strategy:
Repair is to remove, reseal and reinstall the rear window and both quarter glass windows. For VIN, reapir and warranty info refer to service bulliten 06-069, Saftey recall: rear window or quarter glass rattle or looseness.

If your vehicle is affected you will be getting a letter from american honda notifying you that you need to take your car into your local dealership

Only selected 2dr coupes from 2HGFG1...6H501169 to 6H503839

only about 900 in the vin range actually are affected, expect letters in the mail before barging into the dealership.

I would imagine you'll see a letter in the next two weeks IF your vehicle is affected by this recall campaign. Otherwise you have nothing to worry about

i've heard of one instance where the rear 1/4 glass completley seperated from the body and flew off at highway speeds... i'd imagine that would expletive your tint up, but for just removal/reseal/reinstall it shouldnt mess the tint up.; providing the tech. is careful and the original installer of the tint didnt halfass it.

IF for some reason the tint is damaged i'm sure honda will cover it to be replaced.

Hmm... I have rattles, but i think its mostly that plate that holds the speakers. There's already a fix for that. I hope I don't have an effected car, I really don't feel like driving a loner.

My 06 EX was the first in the area and is one of the 900 needing the recall. I work at Honda and mine is going into work Monday for the recall so we'll see how it goes.

Yes theres already a fix, just take it in and let them know whats up and they should check for any open recall's while you're there.

Yeah my speakers rattle. When I had it in last I told them about the SB to pad around the back and fix the rattle. When I came ot pick the car up they told me they didnt hear a rattle and they didnt fix it. I dont care if they heard anything at all, FIX IT! Ya know. you will get paid by AHM for it, geeez.

Is what for the EX's? Rear trunk tray rattle or window recall? Tray rattle applies to all 06's ... window recalls is for FG1's only

Well if they can't duplicate the problem they can't be sure where the noise is coming from. If they just pad where you told them and it ended up being something else they won't get paid for the second warranty claim. Best bet is ask for the service manager and show him the rattle first.
