advantages of a flywheel?
ok, so I banged a second gear today and now my clutch feels like ****. when I'm coming off the clutch I'm getting wheel hop like a ****. probably pressure plate or a bad clutch spring. so I'm gonna do the clutch thursday but I wanna also put a flywheel in. I just purchased a comptech aluminum flywheel and I'm wondering how you guys like a lightened flywheel? The car should rev faster but am I going to be going faster or just revving faster at the same mph? what other advantages are there? less rotating weight on crank= more hp? thanks in advance
Advantage of a flywheel? It gives your clutch something to rub against, so you can move forward
Lighter flywheel will make everything feel quicker/lighter, shift smoother, etc.
What's wrong with your clutch now? It shouldn't cause wheel hop by itself. If it engages and dis-engages without chattering it should be fine.

Use your right foot, silly
Revs go back up again.
I never had any negatives for running a light flywheel in 2 cars.

Nah, I have nothing against light weight flywheel anyway. Just waiting for the original clutch to wear out so the new light weight fly wheel and clutch can go in at the same time (one stone kill 2 birds)

Get a 4.9 FD and kill 3 birds
I only killed 2 birds though, swapped in the Toda FW and ATS FD and kept the OEM clutch at 10,000 miles. It has 45,000 on it now and nothing but ear to ear grinning fun for all the miles since install. No problems only positives.
On a side note when I compare my DD stock EVO to when I get in and snap through gears in the R is't like night and day. The R feels so smoothe and light and responsive, too bad it doesn't have the EVO's turbo strapped on though
