weird noises
whats up guys, i think my axles have something to do with the noises but i just want your opinions. sometimes when i start out i'll here a "screeching" noise but only happens when i ride the clutch. other noise happens all the time "thump thump thump" when i start out or hit a big bump.
thanks
thanks
the thump thump thump noise might mean the axles are going bad. Do you get that noise also when making sharp turns?
I am not sure about the screaching noise. Sometimes that can be a bad AC compressor clutch, something to do with powersteering, or maybe something else too..

I had a similar problem that I ignored for a long time before it finally almost left me stranded. The thumping I am not too sure about but the screeching if it is only when you are starting out and it is not your belts it could be the damper springs in your clutch disk. I heard that screech every time I started moving for 20K miles but one day the spring finally let go and popped out of the hub of the clutch disk and got hung up betweed the pressure plate fingers and the hub. I learned how to drive without a clutch that day!
It could be a wheel bearing. Does the screeching happen when you are driving down the road? taking turns? Does it only happen during long drives? Try shaking your wheels and see if you can tell if something is loose.
mine is the exact same, thump thump from the passenger side axle area. i was also thinking hub bearing but dont want to/know how to change it unless its necessary.

you have to take the stearing knockel out and take to a shop to have a new berring pressed in refere to chilltons guide for removal instructions of whele bering or just take it to a shop, or you could get a whole sereing knuckel from the junk yard for probably 10 dollars cheper than a berring and you wont have to deal with a shop at all. thats what i did
someone also asked if i took out the little metal piece inside the hub when i swapped to b series axles, its a little metal gasket looking thing, i dont remember taking that out. coudl that be it?
My driver side rear wheel shakes when its on the ground, I'm assuming that means I need to either tighten up the nut connecting it or replace the wheel bearing correct. Are wheel bearings expensive, would it be easy enough to change it myself?

can you tell that something feels loose behind the wheel? As for replacing the bearing they cost about $60-80 for a stock crx or for the intergra I think they are like$100. You have to take the hub of and take it to a machine shop have them press the bearing out and press the new bearing in(a local shop did it for $11). Then you just bolt the hub up.
