ap2 poor skid pad performance? tell me it isnt so.
I was a bit disappointed to read in two different magazines, car and driver and sport compact car, that the ap2 scored a .88g on the skid pad, the same as a Nissan Sentra spec v and 240 sx, so apparently that isnt too good. I read it was due to softer rear suspension causing some understeer which I have not encountered on this car. I still think the S2000 is a fantastic car and I know in my heart it handles terrific and better than those cars. My brother owns a 240sx and I almost bought a Sentra SER so ive driven similar to compare. Any explanations other than they allowed mongoloids to test the ap2 on the skid pad?
I have told people for years that the s2k doesnt handle for ****. The susp is too soft, the car is not wide and the tire size of the ap1 are the size of a damn Prius. Why in the hell would you put such a small tire on a car that is "made" for a road race???

this guy is talking about an ap2... not an ap1.... even so... an ap1 is around a .92-.95g on the skidpad (which isn't that much of a difference but still a difference for the better)..... ap2's also have wider tires, so put the ap2's wider tires on an ap1, and you'll get even better numbers then the average .92-.95g on the skidpad with the ap1....
again.. ap1 > ap2.. ROFL

Almost the same tire size as a Prius? Are you referring to the rim size (15" Prius vs 16" AP1) or the width of the tire that actually comes into contact with the road? The AP1 is only an inch larger rim, but a significantly wider contact patch.
The only thing that larger rims are good for is holding big brakes and bling.

All boils down to weight. A sub-3000lbs car should not need wide tires for corner speed. Stickier tires help a lot, as well as a competent driver.

The s2000 is a driver's car while the sentra is a grocery getting sedan. I personally favor the stock suspension of the older s2000's but the new ones fix a few of the quirks of the old that just required getting used to

There was a debate about this, turns out most records are held by ap1's,
the ap1 is equally if not better if properly driven, you just have to learn how to drive it. for amatures they will get better lap times in a ap2, IMO

my god, at least have some numbers to back up all your claims... all you seem to do is bash the S on it's roadcourse/handling ability becuase you're one of the few people that decided to make it a drag car....so i guess you need some reason to back up your claim as to why you decided to go the drag racing route instead of another route... (seriously it gets old when all you do is bash on the S for this or that, and it seems to be what all your posts consist of)
but here's some numbers for you....
RL 0.87g
300zx 0.88g
prius 0.73g
ap1 0.92g
ap2 0.89g
now correct my math.. cause it might be wrong in your eyes.... but to me....
89 or 92 is actually a greater number then 73, 87, or 88

I think that the softer rear suspension and certainly the RE050s contribute to the lower #s. I agree that not everyone can drive these cars the way they are supposed to be driven.
I guess I missed out on the ap1 vs ap2 threads. Id like to bring some up from the dead if possible and join in lol.

Ap2 - F20 (japan)- ap2 suspension
modded ap2/1 dont remember with 4.3 gears and i/h/e

I'm sorry but it's pretty ignorant to compare the RL family sedan to the s2000 from skidpad numbers. There is no point in comparing those two cars by skid pad and saying the s2000 is lacking.
Second, a best motoring style race between the 300zx TT and s2000 on a road course would greatly depend on the type of course/average speeds/etc. I still think in the hands of a competent driver, the s2000 would outshine the 300zxTT (both in stock trims) due to the difference in weight (s2000 is lighter) and improved braking efficiency from the s2000's weight distribution (weight between front and rear axles) and the lighter weight of the car. On a track, weight is the biggest factor IMO for lap times other than power and handling characteristics.

My point is , a stock s2k is not ****. If you hook it up for road or drag then you can make it do what ever you want. I just hate it when people thinj the s2k is the **** for road racing.
