Installed C&R radiator and now fan doesn't turn on....really wierd

Okay.....here's the deal.
Today I installed the new radiator and samco hoses. Everything went well. Started the car and waited for the car to warm up for the fan to turn on. So the car warms up normally and hits the third bar which is where the old stock radiator used to be at when fully warm.
But the fan doesn't turn on. This is a new Spal slim fan. The weird thing is the temps don't increase past the third bar. Because the fan didn't go on I figured the car would start overheating, but it didnt just stayed at three bars.
So now I guess there are three things that could be wrong.
1) I wired the new fan wrong.....but I dont see how this could be. I went from stock radiator with stock dual fan setup, to the new c&r with Spal slim fan for the radiator. I have no A/C so ditching the fan on the driver side shouldnt be an issue. The plug that went into the driver side fan is just hanging there disconnected. I wired the new fan into the stock harness. Only two wires blue and black and i soldered them and shrink wrapped em. So I am pretty sure it was wired correctly.
2) Car isn't reaching hot enough temps for thermostat to open and turn the fan on. This doesnt make sense either though because the water temp guage is where it usually is when fully warmed up. The coolant was hot enough to steam with the rad cap off.
3) The fan is broken. Doesnt make sense either since all of this stuff is new.
If anyone has any ideas that would be great. I guess I could buy a volt meter to check if my wiring has power.

Always run direct power to the fan to see if the fan is working. This takes 5 minutes and will instantly eliminate the fan as a source of the problem.
the same thing happened to me when i got my 2" radiator and slim fan, i used the factory wiring. i never heard or saw the thing kick on. so for the longest time i thought it was broke, and there was no change in my temp gauge. it took a while but i had the car on for a good 30-45mins then i heard it kick on...

I unplugged the A/C fan and left it hanging since my I dont have ac anymore.....I unplugged the radiator fan from the harness and I cut the plug off the stock radiator and soldered the plug onto the new fan and plugged it in. It should have been that simple.
When I installed my C&R I was freaking out too, I let it sit for a good 20 mins and nothing, so I hopped in the car, took it for a drive around the block bringing the RPM's in the higher range, parked it at idle and still nothing.
I thought for sure I had wired it up wrong. Then I drove to work the next morning staring at the temp guage and nothing, rock steady! I hop out when I get to work and sure enough, it kicked on (what a sigh of relief).
I'm sure you wired it up correctly, just watch those water temps and if they rise out of your normal range THEN you have a problem.
The suggestion about running direct power is a very good one, at least that way you will know that the fan itself is in working condition.

if your heat is on or the climate control is on the hot side it will take longer for the fan to come on, or it may not come on at all. I sat there for almost an hour one time waiting for that bitch to come on, the whole time my temp gauge was at the usual "warmed up" spot. then I turned off the heat and viola.

Interesting...but the thing is my heating system doesn't work. Ever since I got my car back I have not been getting any sort of air out of those vents. The A/C lines were removed as well as the motor. The heater doesnt work either and even when I just try and let normal air in it doesn't work. So will sliding the heater thing make a difference?

I guess I just have to be more patient. I swear I waited 25-30 minutes and the coolant was steaming out of the top of the radiator. My car is so stiff that the coolant was jiggling around and spilling everywhere. I had to soak up like 10 small towels worth of coolant. It sucked in a couple times but I didnt see the bubbles or fan turn on.
I was so worried I would screw something up I decided just to shut the thing off and get something to eat hahah.

The car has to be at operating temperature to get heat out of those vents, and you should slide the heater all the way to hot and turn the blower motor on when bleeding the coolant. You will notice it is harder to get heat and keep the car at temperature on colder evenings, I've noticed this with a couple big aluminum radiators.
The Helm also states to run the car at ~3,000 RPMS once started to bring the car up to temperature and waiting for the fan to come on twice is a good indicator.
And I would always reccomend this: <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Reid »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Always run direct power to the fan to see if the fan is working. Hmmm when I read my helms i dont remember it saying to rev the car at 3K...intersting....and like I said in my other posts my car doesnt have heat/ac/or air coming from the vents.
All thanks to the dumb *** thieves.
Other things that dont work anymore is:
1) jdm foglights
2) hood cable
