My roomate threw down some cash today...
Well, I think this Honda thing has finally rubbed off on my roomate. He went out and bought an '87 CRX si. The red paint is in great shape, the interior is in amazingly good condition other than worn out carpet by the gas pedal, and the motor has been recently rebuilt. The car has complete service records and has been owned by an old lady since 1991.
All of this for $1000.00 cash. What do you guys think? good deal? Well, it got him into the fun of Honda driving anyways. I'm just bummed that his '87 si is running circles around my '91 std! Hopefully not for too long though.
The only concern we have with it so far is that it's idling kind of high, and every once in a while the idle fluctuates up and down. Any ideas?

Well I paid 400 for my 88 hf.
IMO he paid too much, but it depends on what he wants to do with it, condition of the body, and where you live. I hope he enjoys it

I personally think $1,000 for a 87 Si in good shape is very reasonable. I looked at an 87 Si before I bought my 88 DX. I kind of wish it had worked out.
Why does everybody have to be so negative??

$1000 is a good deal. A good 4G and it's comparable CRX go for about $2000 for a good one, so a 3G would be worth about $1000.
First gens rock. They are pretty quick too. It's all about the weight. They are light as feathers. I wish I could have gotten a first gen instead of my '90 sedan for that much.

there is a 1g crx around here that they are asking $3100 for - it has 50k miles and the exterior looks pretty good besides it looks like it got bumped a little in the backy and the bumper hangs. I just thought that was ridiculous. My neighbor pulls up the other day in an 87 crx with a little rust on the wheelwells (go figure) and he says the motor runs really strong - he got it for free. He said the previous owner (a kid) drilled wholes in the exhaust, but his mom didnt feel like paying the insurance anymore and gave it away. lucky bastard....I would pay 1k for a 1g crx that ran well, sounds like a deal to me.
