Failed gas cap pressure test
Took the '91 accord in to get the emissions test and according to them the car's not holding enough pressure behind the gas cap. They say the gas cap itself tests o.k. but when they put their special gas cap on and pressure it up to 1.5 psi it
doesn't maintain the pressure long enough. During the test they mash down the hose (closing it off) going to the charcoal canister and then pressure it up. We have a guage off an old blood pressure tester that reads super low pressures that we've tested ATV tanks with before. My question is, if we keep the stock gas cap on and pressure up the system from from the vent hose (that connects to the canister) and only test with 1.5 psi are we going to hurt anything. The exhaust passes the test fine.
