Alcohol/Water injection
HI, looking for crazy things people do to increase the performance on their cars i came around Alcohol/Water injection which is just that, they inject a Alcohol/Water mixture on the intake to cool down and theoretically increase octanes in the fuel mixture, sites like http://www.snowperformance.net/ and http://www.coolingmist.com/ say it is great for boosted cars but that it can also be applied to N/A cars, here in Miami they use it a lot but i hadn't heard from it before, it's very cheap to install and they say it's safer then nitrous, what do you guys think about it?? has anybody used them before? and if so what has been the outcome?
Alcohol/Water injection is used to combat detonation, which in turn allows tuners to raise the boost more on cars with FI. On its own, it does not increase power at all. It has actually been around for quite a long time, but did not become popular until more recently.
On NA cars, you could advance the timing a little more before detonation, but I doubt it's effects will be noticeable. Depending on your car, you may actually lose performance.
