ive been looking for a cx or vx hatch b/c they are lighter and i really dont like the side moldings on the egs very much. i know the dx's are heavier but why? i know a few reasons like more tar on the floor pans, side moldings and it has 2 mirrors instead of 1 but what are some other things? im planning on stripping the whole car down and just keeping the dasha and seats. im also taking out the a/c and sound/tar. and other suggestions on how to lighten her up a lil more? THANKS

Look..I don't know much about these hatches, none-the-less their engines...so I"m just throwing this out there as an inquiry rather than advice.
Is there any weight difference in the trannys/heads? I realize the blocks are the same but aren't the heads different? I'm pretty sure the trannys are too. I'm sure they're roughly the same weight, but I'm sure there's some weight in front that the DX has that the CX or VX or HX doesn't :-\

Not really much difference in motor weight. It's all a small, single-overhead block. Any difference would be in the realm of 10lbs.

Pull the ac/power steering and all that crap outta the engine. Only difference in engines are the extra vtec selenoid, and the extra cam lobes. So basicaly nothing.
nobody mentoned manual windows, door lock, and mirrors. Everything is manual.
The guy that has AC on his CX, that was a dealer install, not from the factory. Your car is still very different, for the above mentioned, and total lack of any sound deadening, amoung other things.
I have 2 manual steering racks laying around for anyone looking to do some weight reduction.
