Pulsating sound coming from car, possibly brakes. Pads always squeak as well.
I have a 98 base prelude and when I drive I can hear "wooo, wooo wooo" humming coming from outside the car. It varies with speed, possibly a wheel bearing? How would I go about discovering whether or not I truly have a bad wheel bearing? Nine years old, would it happen that soon?
If not, what else could it be?
My brakes squeak a good bit, the fronts have tons of life left on them and the rears maybe 30% left. i've taken all the pads (but the drivers rear) off and greased them and put them back on...but they still squeal. i honestly dont think its the pads at all and its something else...however if its not pads or the wear indicators what could it be? Its only sometimes and it usually happens when i'm applying 40-50% of the brake pedal down. Hard breaking it doesnt happen.

sounds like a wheel bearing or more likely a badly worn tire. i have a badly worn tire (the tread pattern goes up and down like a wave). it's causing that "woo woo" sound at certain speeds.
For the squeaking, its probably the brake pads. I have the same problem, still have the pads from when I bought my lude at the beginning of summer. Its damn annoying, but once they get warm its usually ok. I just brake hard so it doesn't happen. Wainting to finish them off to install new "good" ones
If it is a wheel bearing, the noise will get louder or softer when going around curves. When you go around a curve and the weight of the car shifts to the drivers side and the noise almost goes away then it is your passenger wheel bearing. And vice versa.
Driving tonight...doing about 45 MPH I heard nothing. Going around u-turns I hear no increase.
