Autometer Gauge Lighting
I have an Autometer Boost gauge with a wedge bulb in it. I tried doing the shapie color over it (Blue) and although it worked I can't see the gauge face now LOL. It's not bright enough.
Anyone know the size bulb this takes. I found that they offer a LED Replacement Bulb. Product #3286 that should do the trick. But I just wanted to confirm that this would be the one I need.
Also I have an Autometer A/F gauge that doesn't light up except for the bars. Is the rest of the gauge face supposed to light up as well? I don't recall seeing a bulb socket on it so it probably doesn't.

First, the bulb should be something on the line of a 194(3.5watt) or 168(5watt) bulb, now you can purchase the one from auto meter (not sure on price) or you can get a pair off ebay for most likely the same or less. I'd say look into Matix style bulbs:

These bulbs will fill a gauge pod up and make a more uniform light than just a single led unit would. I had on in a three inch tach and it was a very uniform light.
Most a/f gauges don't have a light up face since the "information" the gauge is displaying is via leds, most times the only light up display units are when they are using electro-luminescent lighting (glowing green or blue).

Thank you CarbonizedDX
That's the info I was looking for. Autometer led bulbs are around $9.00 and up + shipping from what I could find on various sites.
I'll look into them bulbs on Ebay. I'm only using a 2" gauge so the 194(3.5watt) should be enough I would think.
Thanks again.

No, just the strip of LED's light up. Normal, mine's the same way.

Yea I didn't think the face lit up. I just thought I seen some that did light the face up too so I thought I'd ask. Thanks for your imput.
I did order some Ebay LED's for $5.00 for the other gauge. I'm sure I saved $10.00 at least thanks to CarbonizedDX's input :D
Great Forum for Info...
