my 88 Crx...
I finally was going to drive it for the first time in 2 years but had to add brake fluid and bleed the brakes.
Thats when hell broke loose.
I got 3 of the 4 wheels done on the last one and all of a sudden there is a nice squishy sound from the rear.
So I take it apart and just as I thought the Wheel cylinder seals must have gone bad.
this is my first time ever doing a brake job on drum brakes
... it was hell
So i get the drums off, and find the brake shoes cracked and looking like they are ready to fall apart. So now it turns into a nice rear brake job.
Taking it apart went fairly smoothly. Until I tried to take off the rear wheel cylinder. The metal line decided to seize up on the bolt (that goes into the wheel cylinder) so that breaks... sweet.
So now time to get a hard line to replace.
I get the parts from the parts store and get my drums turned at a shop.
I get the wrong wheel cylinder (who would have guessed 88 are different then 90s
). But of course the only place that has it is on the opposite side of town.
Ok cool go and get that exchange the parts, go home install everything. Everything seems to go on right.
Now when i initally was bleeding my brakes there was a squishy sound coming from the master cylinder. So i figure i'll replace it. I take the brake booster and master cylinder out and replace it with a spare. I go to add fluid and the frickin resevior is caked with some mud type sludge.
Kewl if any one is familiar with Crxs you know replacing the brake booster is not the funniest job.
So now thats all i need... hopefully
.
And the day started out so well with my first time skydiving at 13000 ft
