Default The New Replacement for the R...(56k..go kick yourself)

Well, I got my replacement for the R. I must say, I'm loving it so far. Great feel to it, little bit more practical then the ITR in the aspect of I'm not really to scared to part it anywhere. Insurance rates even went down. Great car! If i end up missing the R, well I guess I'll have to look for another one when school is done.

I know I know, shut up and post pics.

It's an 04 S2000. 40k. All Highway, but the beauty is it will maybe get 2k a year now since I won't drive it a lot being that I'm at school for 90 percent of the year. She is 100 percent stock, unmolested in every way (just the way I like 'em!)

I hope to come to expo with her next year and get some driving lessons with the RWD because quite frankly, I suck at driving it lolol.

It's been great in the ITR forum guys. I'm sure I'll find myself in here still quite a bit. Thanks for everything!

You be quiet! I hung out with Derek all day today. He tells me you wanted to trade me cars for the day to pick up your girlfriend and try to convince her you got rid of the R. That would of been funny. You should of called me up, I would of done that for ya. It might of not worked though, your girlfriend goes to UPenn so she's a bright girl. She would of noticed it was the same S that picked her up last week.

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments.

Thanks man. Black is the only color car I think I'll ever own. They are a bitch to keep clean, but when she is spotless, there's nothing more puuurty.

how much of a diff does it feel to drive a RWD car? im sure it handles diff in turns and such, but how about acceleration? just the lil things im asking for. i was just wondering, because i plan on getting one of these in the next two months.

It's really just a whole diffrent car. The S has a lot more torque behind it in the lower rpms. You can deffinitly feel it. It accelerates a lot quicker then the R. The R seemd be to more slugish from 3k-6k. The r's vtec engagement though is a little more impressive, but thats a given with the new i-vtec. From what I hear, if you drop the S's vtec engagement aout 3-5 houndred rpms it's a lot better though. The suspension on the S seems to be more stiff and touchy. One flick of the wheel and she's flyin off to the side. I find shifting a lot easier with the throws and clutch too. The RWD is sort of scary. If you don't know what you are doing (which I don't) and try to take it hard at a corner she will let loose. I want to take classes so I can get better at this. With the top down, it has a fun factor the R didn't have. All in all, its been a nice transition. I loved the R to death, but the S is one hell of a car so far in the first 2 weeks I have owned it.

Aren't you glad you got an AP2 instead of an AP1? I've gotten my car sideways more than once this week just because I wasn't paying attention during the morning commute. That wakes me up faster than any cup of coffee. And I usually feel like an asshat because I'm probably spooking the people behind me. But what can I say, I prefer the AP1 just because of that.

Just take it to an autocross or two first (especially if it's going to be wet/raining during the event) and get used to the feeling of the tail stepping out. It's going to take some time to get accustomed to it. Learn how to be more smoother with inputs too (throttle and steering).

Honestly, the only thing you'll miss about the R is the trunk.

Also, I missed being able to recline back. I swear if they had a 2+2, my S would still be in my garage.

I never had the rear end let loose on an ap1. I have heard though the ap2's correct themselves a whole lot better then the ap1's when the tail end does let loose. As far as auto x's, it may be something I might look into this summer (I might pick a nice day though for the first run lol). I'm hoping when I go someone might be there to show me the ropes as I'm just starting to get my feet wet with organized motor events. Oh well, to a new adventure.

Also the hardest thing is to get used to the LSD. The LSD only works when you are on the power, so if you want to be able to use it you have to be on power and that can be a little nerve wracking on an exit ramp at 70+ mph and realizing that you have to keep your foot in it to help turn and not "spin" or oversteer. In my R, it is MUCH more forgiving with the throttle (only have to worry about lift off oversteer).... the main reason I feel much more comfortable being an "idiot" on the race track in my H2 ITR than if I ever took my S2K to the track.

Note: My S2K is for sale if anyone is interested. I bought it used in 2003, it is a 2002, Suzuka Blue, Factory 6 disc CD player, brand new Kumho MX's with 65K miles....no, not looking to trade for anything, no not looking to buy anything, just need room in the garage for my H2 ITR and to pay off the mortage quicker. GREAT car, but surprising enough my priorities in life are changing
