d15b mounts

Default d15b mounts

i recently succesefully swapped a d15b in my 89 si..i read alot of things about the swap and got conflicting directions..the drivers side mount does not look like it rubs the timing belt but i have it heard it does can anyone vouch for this, i dont want to cut my timing belt because of ignorance

the ? is can i use the drivers side mount from the d16a6 on the d15b block , i just want to know if anyone else has this setup and if it rubs the timing belt

yes the mounts should be the same.
i have never heard of a timing belt rubbing any mount.
do not cut the timing belt, thats the probably stupidest thing you could possible do

i did the same swap ( 91 civic ex ) i used the motor mount from my d16a6 on the d15b with out a problem... to honest with you i never herd about anithing rubbing...

nobody said anything about cutting the timing belt, i said i dont want to be ignorant and cut the timing belt due to the mount rubbing on the belt? geezzz

The belt can rub on the motor mount slightly. The belt won't rub all the time... while the belt is moving it can move back and forth and almost kind of slap the mount (belt's teeth at least). I put my JDM D15B VTEC in my 89 HF many years ago and noticed it immediately. I just took a grinder to the mount slightly. If your T-belt is tensioned properly then it won't rub at all, or at least very little. I personally didn't want to wait to see if it would really tear the belt up over time.

thanks i think i saw the same as you described slapping the mount im going to go take it off s shave it down a little..honda tech has alot of intellgent helpful people but alot of them are just mindless ********* just on here to be heard

make sure you replace your tensioner when you replace your tbelt and dont worry about it

I had this problem even with a brand new tensioner etc. Did everything by the book too (Helm's)
