d15b mounts
i recently succesefully swapped a d15b in my 89 si..i read alot of things about the swap and got conflicting directions..the drivers side mount does not look like it rubs the timing belt but i have it heard it does can anyone vouch for this, i dont want to cut my timing belt because of ignorance
the ? is can i use the drivers side mount from the d16a6 on the d15b block , i just want to know if anyone else has this setup and if it rubs the timing belt
nobody said anything about cutting the timing belt, i said i dont want to be ignorant and cut the timing belt due to the mount rubbing on the belt? geezzz
The belt can rub on the motor mount slightly. The belt won't rub all the time... while the belt is moving it can move back and forth and almost kind of slap the mount (belt's teeth at least). I put my JDM D15B VTEC in my 89 HF many years ago and noticed it immediately. I just took a grinder to the mount slightly. If your T-belt is tensioned properly then it won't rub at all, or at least very little. I personally didn't want to wait to see if it would really tear the belt up over time.
