600, the dealership says about not taking it up into high rpms or anything, i listened to them but then i also have very smart smart car friends that say ya know honda had that motor up and down the rpm band when thery built it so its all sort of already been brokeen in, so i took what both people said and i started out never taking the car p to high rpms and then over the weeks began to give it more and more building it up and i would eventually take it up to redline in everygear and aloow to drop the whle break inprocess is to aloow the piston rings to seat nicely, and with what i did my friend ( who knows a hell of alot about cars and doesnt bullshit around) took my car for a spin and said " dude what ever you did in the break in process, you must have done sumthing right becausei can shirp the wheels shfting into fourth, eighther that or you got a really good one" lol just my thoughts

Yeah. It allows the motor to be broken into each gear. Such as after a while of being broken in,i began taking it up to redline in first gear and letting the rpms just drop and then for each grear, the same process. This was actually recomended to me on http://www.teamintegra.net :-P Hey i musta did sumthing right.

Was my grammer okay this time?

Yeah, you don't have to break in a new car. The dealership wants you to wait 600 miles because at that point any little issues that might have been overlooked will have made themselves evident. It has nothing to do with the engine. If you want to insure that your piston rings are sealed, drive the **** out of it for ten minutes and then you're golden.

And taking it up to redline in every gear is retarded. It's not like the piston rings change with each gearshift In the end you'll do whatever you want regardless what we tell you, but the only thing you get out of babying it for 600 miles is better gas mileage.

i got mine with 84 miles. Drove it normal for like 400 then started driving it like i was planning on driving it. I beileve that if you drive it how your going to almost from the start then things are going to set the way that you drive. I hit v tec a lot just because it is addicting. i now have 9000 k on my motor and it runs perfect

Yea I did the hard break in method too for the piston rings to seat properly. Car pulls hard stock and can always beat another RSX that has i/h/e.

My car is modded up the *** now. I'm at 125,000 miles, did a compression and leak down test, all cyinders read the same for compression test and for leakdown; cylinder 1 and 4 had only 1% leak while cylinder 2 and 3 had no leak at all.

So my next new car will get the hard break in treatment too.

engines themselves dont work with gears. 8k rpm is 8k rpm.
