A question about changing an intake manifold gasket
My question is do I need to put some kind of sealant around the coolant passage in the intake manifold gasket? I replaced the gasket and didn' t get all the gasket off. Long story short, there was a 5000 rpm surge. We fixed it and reused the gasket. Ok heres is whats going on now. Whenever I get on it I get a bunch of white smoke out the tail pipe. I am guessing the gasket has gone bad. My question is do I need to to put some kind of gasket seal (honda bond) around the gasket where she coolant runs through it?
thanks

No, you don't need any sort of silicone gasket maker for that port. What you should do is make sure you get all of the old gasket off when replacing the intake manifold gasket. You have to get all of the little pieces that break off and stick to the head/IM off in order to get a good seal. I've found using a razor blade or scraper tool works well, and if there are really stubborn parts, you can use the gasket remover stuff that comes in a can.
