Default cx/dx compatibility

My 95 hatch is getting swapped as I type this. It is a dx with a nice running engine. My friend JUST picked up a 93 cx hatch. Sadly though, it smokes, and it may not make it until he gets his swap late NEXT year.

I am aware that the engine and tranny will literally drop right in, but, since neither is vtec, can we just plug and play with the wiring, or will i need to extend anyting?

I'm trying to help my buddy so all help is appreciated.

TIA.

Well do you know why it's smoking?

His has about 250-275K miles on it. Has alot of oil on it, and looks messy. Basically, it's a clean shell with a great interior and was a good price.

Mine only has about 125K and never had any problems. I was very meticulous with it and pretty much babied it.

I'm going to give him my old engine and tranny. I'm just researching any wiring issues.

The only thing you you will have to change is the O2 sensor, yours is a 4 wire and the CX uses a 1 wire. swap that sensor and its plug n play.

Ok, cool.

We use my ECU (I presume). But, won't my ECU searh for a 4 wire O2, or will it be ok with the cx's 2 wire O2?

Yes you will. The CX only has a 1-wire O2. Your O2 is still in your manifold, which is still on your old engine correct?

you have to run the o2 wires to the ecu or atleast to the shocktower.
