so what are you thinking it is? a mechanical failure? You think the piston hit? I'd imagine it'd cause lots more damage than that!
It really just looks like it detonated. but if you're tuned and rock a wideband then ionno

3 was the cyl that died on my last ls/v.. a little piston + spark plug lovin.. I don't condone that sort of thing.

I'd pull the new plugs right now and see how they look/what color they are after a good rip

if they broke, where did the tips go? i hope safely through your exhaust valves.
a friend of mine had 12:5 CP pistons and they kept hitting the plugs just enough to close the gap and stop running. didn't break the tips. ended up getting shorter plugs. i would imagine there be more damage to your plugs if the piston made contact and the tips broke. could they have really melted?

Press the little button with the flower on it on your camera before you take close up pics of stuff like that. Macro makes us be able to rell what is actually going on.
Are those Iridium plugs? Did you gap them? Alot of these Iridium plugs are not supposed to be gapped--its the way the ground electrode is constructed that makes it prone to breakage if you bend it by gapping.....The burn looks ok--that is physical damage.
yup them bitches where gapped
