Play in the steering wheel
Hello, I have a 93 Acura Integra, and I have noticed about half an inch of "play" in the steering wheel. My steering wheel moves very easily until it "grabs" this play is at the very top of the wheel. I looked the the steering column joint, and when I move the steering wheel, that moves without a problem. So the joint is not loose. I am wonder where else, (outside of interior) the play or looseness could be originating from. I had a new rack and pinion installed about a month ago, and I would like to resolve the issue myself, rather than paying a mechanic to tell me something else is wrong. I have my car lowerd, about 1-2" and do not have a camber correction kit on it, I am wondering if this could be the problem also.
the bolts (and or assembly) on the arms that turn the wheels (forgot the real name for them) are probably loose. Here is a sad attempt at a diagram...I think this is how it works...
