Default new thermostat

i need to put a new thermostat in my car, i've done it successfully before, ok actually its really easy, just one question though since its been a long time.
do i need a new gasket? what type of sealer should i use. is there a type of gasket i can get that i dont need a sealer.

if u change something with a gasket i always change the gasket just to be safe and make sure nothing leaks.

For gasket sealer you can always use some silicone or ATV sealer. Not sure which one would be "appropriate" but either does work.

Permatex "Red" sealer works great for ANYTHING on your motor to give a better seal

Its a tall regular style container that you put into a caulking gun, white and red and rated up to 340* or so, so youll never melt it off, dries fairly quick to

I didnt use a gasket on my last thermo install and used this stuff and it sealed just fine
