Ok, well good luck then. I trust about 2 people to work on my car and a shop is not one of them.

well I wouldnt trust any "shop on the corner" for that stuff. One of the closer shops I would trust is 1st State Motorsports out of Delaware, or maybe Evans Tuning in PA, but not 100% sure they do their own work, they may send it out.

yeah, evans shop is an option.

the shops around here have one thing in common which is why i wont go to them. i rather not say what it is.

any owners here willing to work on a motor for a reasonable backyard mechanic fee?

cams and timing belt are no problem. Ive personally never installed valves/springs/retainers but know its not that difficult. But you really should check tolerances when doing so and that requires measurement tools. However if you are installling new valves I would recommend a machine shop to get a fresh valve job and install new seals also.

what cams are these? are you going to be using the stock computer for now?

Cams, belts, springs, retainers aren't difficult at all and you don't NEED to remove the head. For valves you will need to remove the head and replace the headgasket while you are at it. I would have the head cleaned and tolerances checked like RTW DC2R recommended.

What part of Jersey are you in?

Evans-Tuning. Jeff is building my 84mm turbo motor as we speak. The only thing they send it out for is sleeves (obviously), and valve jobs. I wouldn't trust ANYONE else. Jeff and Andrea run one hell of a business. I ordered everything I needed from the turbo kit to the internals from them and couldn't be happier

Buy a helms manual and do it yourself if you have some mechanical ability. Otherwise PM me and I can give you details on a person.
