Default Forbidden short shifter installation and parts question

I was looking at the installation write-up that is linked on Forbidden's website and have a question about the plastic cube that is reused in the installation.

Step 6 in the write-up says : "Now use your plyers and pull the plastic cube off of the little ball from the stock shifter and proceed to re-attach it onto the 4Bidden shifter."

Is the cube peice #18 in this diagram?

I have heard that this piece can be tough to remove and reinstall, I was wondering if it would be a good idea to get a new one from Honda to use it on the short shifter?

Also, for those who already have this shifter, is there anything else you would recommend doing or replacing from that diagram while the forbidden shifter is being installed?

By the way, I dont have the shifter yet, just hoping to get everything I need beforehand. Thanks.

yeah i believe its that.

trust me, once you take it apart, you'll see what you need to do.

its not that hard and i didn't replace anything else when i got mine. unless like your bushings are hard.

also remember to cut into the console to prevent chaffing.

you should be able to yoink the cube off the ball with enough muscle. its just hard cuz its all greased up and keeps moving. and yes its #18.

other than that, i would just suggest to regrease all the places that are greased.

If you grab it with plyers and pry off at an angle it pops right off. Some are metal and some are plastic. Be easy with the plastic ones.

Yup, that's the little ball. I tried taking it off with some pliers and pinched the hell out of myself. I got mad, put it on the ground, stepped on the ball, then pulled the other side and it came out.

Hahahaha, I did the same thing!!! Hurt like hell too.

I put the lil cube thingy on the window sill and hit the shifter and it poped right off.

Right now I'm out of grease and need to get some more for my FM shifter install. Which type of grease would you suggest I purchase to use for my shifter install?
Thanks!
