Default a6 connecting rods and a z6 crank...bearing selection process

OK im using d16a6 connecting rods(with a6 pistons attached) on my z6 crankshaft thats in its original home of the z6 block.

As far as connecting rod bearing color codes, do you go according to the crank codes from the engine that the connecting rods where initially from?

Or do you go according to the connecting rod codes for the engine (z6 engine, and its original z6 crank) that you are going to use them in.

Think about that for a second. Why would you size bearings for the engine that you're not using? You use the rods, crank, and block that you're building.

i have thought about it and the funny thing is that every "engine builder" ive asked that question has told me to go according to the codes from the engine that the connecting rods came from...for the connecting rod bearings.

BUt because the crank is whats unique and important to select bearing size accordingly, Im going to select the bearing sizes according to the codes on the block and crank im using as the forgeign rods(a6) are being resized to stock anyhow and so the old engines codes will be useless

uhhh, you look at the letters on the crank and you look at the numbers on the rod.

then select what color bearing based on the table.

now use your noggin in this, if you have a small journal and a large journal. then a large rod and a small rod. put the large rod on the large journal and the small rod on the small journal.
