Jumpy idle and auto trans problems on early 90's accord.
Hi, a friend of mine has an early 90's accord with an f22a something in it. It's an automatic, and recently it's idle went crazy. It'll hit about 900 rpm, then shoot up to about 2/2.5k, then drop back down and do it again, continously reving. It DOESN'T do it however, when the brake is applied. This happened out of no where, the car wasn't overheated... The only time I've seen a car do this was when I bought an 87 CRX Si that had been overheated heavily, and it revved the same way at idle. The trans on the accord will sometimes not shift till 6k, even when only a little gas is applied. I amounted it to a lack of ATF, but I wanted to get some oppinions on it. This girl drives the car like a soccer mom, and it's only got 175k on it, which isn't much for a honda. Any help is appreciated. I really want to fix her car so I can get in her pants. Thank you.
check it out you see there is a valve at the right of the im its cylinder shaped it is the fast idle valve and what you do is on top there are two screws open the top and with two standard screw drivers twist it shut it probably got wedged open and try the valve next to it take off the two screws and spray some brake cleaner into it maybe the screen got clogged
