SOHC vs DOHC differences:

SOHC has 6 flywheel bolts, DOHC has 8.

Cranks:

Measure the strokes
B16A/B - 70.4mm
B17A - 81.7mm
B18A/B - 89mm
B18C1/C5 - 87.2mm

The only problem you'll run into is the GSR/ITR cranks, I don't know how to tell the difference, maybe someone else can shed some light cuz they look the same to me. As far as the Civic Type-R motor, i've never seen a CTR crank before and I doubt you'll come acrossed one cuz they aren't as common as other motors.
