How the hell did the rear tie bar get that bent??? It looks like it bent the frame its connecting to.....
I would paint the front and rear bumper and the lip if I were you. You'd get more interest that way I think because the way it is doesn't look that great.
That tie bar is really bent!!!!

yeah, when they pulled the car out of the container, the dumbass put the forklift fork right on that bar. i have another one laying around that i can put on, and the mounting tabs are a little bent, but they can easily be bent back. the subframe isn't damaged at all, alignment is perfect.

That was my first guess, either that or somebody used it to jack up the rear...

Can you tell us why you say it only has a Japanese title but you have posted a pic with TX plates on it? Is it titled and registered in TX or not?
Nice ride. Hope you get what you want out of it.

if not registered its not even worth 8-9k in my book, save if it was a parts car only (which this is right now - sum of its parts)
registering it in the USA is going to be a pain in the *** or near impossible unless you are willing to take a lot of time/research to make it work for you.

actually registering here is very simple. but the specifics very from state to state.
as for what you think it's worth. thanks for your opinion, but i disagree.

Airbags were optional until 99 or 2000. notice there is no passenger side air bag either.

The gear ratios are closer on the J4D because it has the SiR gearing 1st-5th. The N3E Tranny has SiR gearing 1-3, and then GSR/SiR-G gearing for 4th and 5th. It makes for a large drop in RPM from 3rd to 4th. I prefer the J4D trans because the rpm drop between shifts is much more consistent throughout the gears. Just because the N3E tranny has the 4.7FD, doesn't mean it's gears are shorter. Just the final drive is.

The drop from 3-4 is not large at all. Sure, 4th and 5th are closer on the J4D tranny but it does not make the gearing closer with the 4.4 FD tranny. I just don't understand why anyone would swap out the 4.7 tranny to the 4.4 tranny...especially in a 98 R.

with the 4.7 FD the gears overall are shorter (1st-3rd at least), but the gears are closer together with the J4D. it's not a matter of opinion, it's fact. you can put a 5.1FD on an LS tranny and the gears still won't be closer than the J4D. the gearing will be shorter, but the gears won't get any closer together. and just an fyi, rpms are higher in 5th gear in the j4d tranny, even WITH the stock 4.4FD when compared to the stock N3E w/ the 4.7FD.
and just for the record, I didnt swap the tranny, the previous owner in japan did.
