Default Anyone else holding out for the Comptech cat-back exhaust?

I feel like I've put more effort into researching what exhaust to get than I put into purchasing my first home. I've read every exhaust related thread out on the web and listened to every exhaust sound clip that I could find 3 to 4 times each. Plus, as it's looking like were not going to see a big difference in HP gains from one cat-back system over another, it's coming down to look and sound for me (plus overall build quality).

I was about to pull the trigger and go with the Tanabe Medalion cat-back on Monday, but I think that I'm going to wait a little longer to see what the soon-to-be-released Comptech cat-back is all about. IMO, Comptech is at the top of the food chain when it comes to after-market performance parts for Honda/Acura..........and as such, their parts are far from cheap. If I was ready to drop $565 on the Tanabe, what's another $100 for a Comptech system.

Yeah I'm patiently waiting for all the Comptech goodies to becaome available. It sucks to wait but I am glad that they are taking their time. Proper R & D pays in the long run, look what happened with the DC header and exhaust and the AEM cai. As far as price goes, IMO cheap work is not good and good work is no cheap, I dont mind shelling out the few extra bucks for Comptech stuff because I know that its not crap.

I agree as well. I'd rather wait for a properly produced product and spend the extra coin to get good quality.

Cant wait for the Comptech goodies!

No, you're just underestimating or don't have experience.

Don't forget about Hytech's upcoming exhaust, and also their race header. Expensive, but all past applications have shown EXCELLENT gains.

actually it's J's Racing titanium exhaust on AJ-racing.com

http://www.aj-racing.com/catal...age=1

Definately more expensive than what Comptech will put out, but probably has better power gains..

Comptech makes majority of their parts restrictive... Now they haven't finish all their parts for the FG yet but if its anything like the EM1 was... then yeah I wouldn't spend hella money for their parts when you can get the same gains on parts that don't cost as much ...

im awaiting the comptech header and supercharger.

hopefully someone comes out with a test pipe so i can eliminate that cat. i think the stock exhaust flows well enough. Plus, i dont want any unwanted attention

Ok I'm confused here. I thought I had done my research on exhausts and I was leaning towards a Greddy SP2. I knew comptech had one on the horizon, but is it really going to be that good? More horsepower or just better sounding?

I'd really like to put a quality exhaust on my car that has a good deep sound to it, but not too loud at low rpms. Also, the more whp, the better. Should I be holding out for comptech as well?

Here' my thought on after market exhaust's that are out so far fpr the FG2.
like i said earlier the stock fg2 midpipe is 2.25 inches that goes down to 2.0 at the flanges. most exhausts that are out are 2.36 and i'm not sure what they are at the flangs. for a decent upgrade i personally would want a 2.5 inch and prefer no bottle necks at th flanges. looks like we'll have to see what comptech and T1-R comes out with

OK SLOW DoWN PEOPLE!! I have the comptech exhaust. it sounds great very deep tone and quite when just cruising. i aslo have the short header as well. neither of them make any power really without both. same for all the other companies right now. All of them are having trouble with getting higher numbers from the SI. i aslo have the super charger adn as for the guy saying u guys are hyping it up to much maybe he's right maybe he's wrong. Its all personal preference. The way i see it, stainless exhaust is stainless exahust. im about hp to dollar ratio but everyone isnt. Comptech is very expensive but u know, i love their products. this is the first time i have ever dealt with them.

If you guys DONT know i own the 1 of 2 comptech supercharged civic si's in the world! i have the supercharger, springs, hondata, header, catback, camber kit, short shifter and sway bar. they all work good but its up to u guys. all name brans are expensive. and i know some of u wont belkive me so i will post pics. if u went to hot import nights in san fran , ca u probably saw me and my car there.. the supercharger should be out VERY soon. cat back in october some time. short shifter and springs are good to go now and i think the camber kit as well. the short header im not sure i think october as well. no intake yet still in the works i have seen the prototype and its clean but probably wont be grabbing much more power than anyone else u know? so there are ur answers..

i want to see if this slide show i made works... yes thats right spread the word this is the ONLY production model civic si in the world with a super charger working and running on the street. the white was suppose to be a pre production. im not sure if u guys will have to load the slide show but its 12 megs if u do. its in my photo bucket and here is a short clip around a turn with stock intake.

Slide show

turning

with 3 passengers and a full tank of gas
http://s79.photobucket.com/alb...6.flv

what it will sound like with an intake( only reved to 5k)

Nice pic's of your tight ride!!!

Thanks for having a few nice pics of the exhaust. I like the look of that exhaust......the tip is just the right size and the muffler portion does not appear to hang low. The coffee can tip thing is not me, plus I don't want 1/2 the muffler hanging below the rear (i.e., the EVO2 look is no longer me.....had a EVO on my Accord for a number of years).

Is it safe to assume that pricing will be about the same as the RSX-S cat-back?

Im actually holding out for 2...comptech and HKS. IMO..both are worth waiting for and are some of the best exhausts available.
