Default Rear end sounds like it's falling apart. Great..........

Well, I've been notincing a shitload of noise coming from the back of my EG, and it's getting worse. It sounds like it's coming from the top of my struts, maybe? The rear is pretty much completley stripped. What could be the cause of my problem? It sounds nasty....

Did you even bother to take a look back there for yourself before you decided to ask Honda-Tech?

Yes, I did. As far as I can tell, there is nothing loose or broken from my visual inspection. I had my friend crawl back there while I was driving, and he said it was coming from the top of the struts, or around that area.

Is the noise coming from both sides, or just one side?

Check the torque on the upper mount bolts and on the nut at the end of the damper rod. Also, check to make sure the upper mounts are assembled correctly. Check the torque on the upper control arm bolts. Check the UCA bushings. Do you have coilovers? Do you have adjustable-length UCAs (camber kit)? Do you have a rear anti-roll bar? Are the rubber spring isolators in place? Are there bump-rubbers on your dampers?

Just a few ideas for things to look at.

Well, the noise started out pretty minimal, but it's progressivley getting worse. It was one side, now it's both.

The upper mount bolts and the end nut of the damper rod feel tight. As far as I know they are assembled correctly. Control arm bolts are tight. Bushings may need replacing. I don't have a camber kit or anti-roll bar.

One thing to note is yes, I do have adjustable springs w/ stock struts. There were no bumpstops on the dampers when I bought the car, and it never used to make this noise. Could that be it?

It's strange, because when I go over larger bumps, it's not noisy at all. But when I'm just cruising down the freeway, it squeeks and rattles like crazy. It's making me uncomfortable to drive the car.

Sounds like bad bushings to me.Also have you jaked it up yet and taken alook at everything.I had this problem and it ended up being some of the bolts that hold my bumper on were missing

try checking your rear trailing arm bushings those would cause noise and suspension will feel dog tail.....

there's not a whole lot back there that it could be......
should be pretty straightforward to diagnose.

i'd start by identifying if its IN the car or OUT the car....

if it's IN the car for sure that's all it could possibly be.

have you checked your bushings?
its possible one of your struts is blown.

i had a front one blow on my CRX and it almost shot out of my hood...
