odometer stopped working
The odometer on my 96 Civic just stopped working all of a sudden. Everything else works but the odometer. I took out the gauge cluster to make sure everything was plugged in but that didnt help much. Anybody else had the same problem and found the solution?
Thanks.
Thanks.

just the odometer, kind of wierd I know.
I guess I'm just going to have to replace it, looking to buy a Si gauge cluster but they are pretty hard to find sometimes.

not hard to find, just expensive.
See if you can find a friend with a 96-00 cluster just to make sure its the cluster thats bad. It might not be.

You can try checking the fuses. But usually if it's a fuse other things besides the odometer will also not work (speedometer, etc).

would anybody know what fuse is it? i want to start the trouble shooting there. i'm looking at the Helms manual and its kind of confusing because its telling me its like 3 different fuses.
i would highly doubt your odometer is powered by anything fused....think about it, if it was, people would just pull the fuse 2 weeks after buying the car, then sell it two years later with only 600 miles.... sounds like something went bad in the cluster, i would just get a new one...later,
if it's just your odo then my guess is a busted gear in the cluster. When my 95 had a screwed up cluster, the speedo, odo, and trip odo, would all go out together. Plus my temp gauge was screwed. It'd always max. I bought a new cluster (out of a 4dr LX I think cause it had a lower redline) and no more problems. Mine was electrical though. Cracked circuit board or something. Yours sounds mechanical. Again, sounds like a busted gear in the cluster. I'd just buy a new cluster.
