Cost of extended warranty from Honda on new S2k
HI,
I am looking at a used 05 S2000 and the guy has an extended warranty to 100K miles. I am not sure if it is trrough HOnda, but what does somethine like this cost to buy? He is going to sell it back to the place, but I want to know what that will take off his asking price as he is not telling me.
THanks!!

check the amount of a pro-rated warrenty at the honda dealership. get the exact date because it will be prorated from that date. with that info, take it off the car. if you run a search on s2ki.net, you will see that warrenties usually end up screwing people in the ***.
I had a 10 year/100k milage warrenty on my old 93 civic SI when i bought it. At 98,500 miles my tranny started grinding. They replaced it, the only question they asked is "what is modified", which the car wasnt, it was totally stock at the time. So the $750 extended warrenty really paid off as the tranny repair bill was almost $2500.
However, i got a 8year/80k milage extended warrenty on my s2000. I havent used it once, and i bet i wont need it. So it was prolly a waste of $1200.
If i buy another honda, i dont think i will get an extended warrenty. They just dont break anymore - unless you mod them of course.
But then if you mod the car anyway the warrenty is almost always useless.liam
If you mod the car, I wouldn't bother with the extended warranty. They'll just deny the claim. Go over to S2Ki.com and read up on all the warranty denials for tranny's and diff's on car's with cold airs.
If you keep it stock, it's probably worth it. Lots of '2k's seem to blow something expensive when they get alot of miles on them.

don't go with a continental warrany they are the worst I ever had! I have the gold plan and blew out my 6th gear its been a month they are still "investigating" it and finally came to a conclusion and give me a used tranny, turned out it was a nice one but still. So over a month later I'm waiting on it to come in and have it installed. They want to argue with the honda dealer and say it takes 5.6 hrs to install a tranny the honda dealer says 7.5 hrs and bottom line want me to pay the extra when its supposed to be a $100 deductable. Won't give me a rental car. This company is true idiots! I had the warranty transferred when I bought the car the guy who bought it paid $2000
