What is an affordable, yet comfortable helmet that you guys would recommend for auto-x or road race?

Cheapest SA2000 I've seen is the Bell MAG4.
http://www.racerwholesale.com has them for $179 I believe.

I did a post on this under competition, there were some other good recommendations in there to, so you might want to search for it. I was going to buy one, but I think I will just use a sweaty loner helmet.

Cheap helmets

Loaner helmets are frequently is a bad state of condition (often have been dropped) - so use them only if you HAVE to (i.e. first time). Otherwise spend the money and buy something light and comfortable that fits your head properly.

My helmet cost $75. Glossy black, nice for the price. But then again I drag.

I wear a Shoei RF-4, it has the large eyeport for glass wearers. I think they've been discontinued for quite some time now. SA95 rated

I prefer OMP. I have the OMP formula....it kicks ***. It's for open wheelers though if you like the smaller eyeport. http://www.stansracegear.com is the place. Great customer service!!
