Theives cut my radio wire harness, pic
i just wanted to show a pic of what some theives did and see what my best route would be in fixing it. they basically just cut the radio out ...

should i just buy the plug and reconnect the wires into it? my only fear is that it will be very short resulting in a hard install
also, my speedometer is having issues. when i click the key to accesory or turn the car on my speedo jumps to 30 mph and stays. after that it works fine except for the fact that i have to subtract 30 mph to know how fast i am going. anyone have any idea what this could be ??
thx guys any help will be greatly appreciated.

You have lots of room to crimp/solder an aftermarket HU harness to it, here is a color code and pin out, peal back that outer "loom" and check for paralleled wires, wires that would have been connected past the cut but before the oem radio plug.

you've got to remember, only circuit city sells that "smart" harness and the "smart" harness are only made for manufacturers circuit city currently sells (sony, eclipse, jvc, pioneer, panasonic and jensen). i would go to best buy and get the metra 71-1721 that way you have a factory harness in there then get the 70(80)-1721 and put your new HU in there. i'm guessing from the picture it's an 99+ civic.

yea it's a 99 si. sry forgot to mention that. would it be possible to insert the wires directly into the factory side of the aftermarket harness or should i cut the factory side off and solder the wires together??

Something like this, [Scosche]... http://www.scosche.com/scosche...ID=43 and sure you could but why, in fact why add any more connections then necessary, although, installing a stock radio plug, Metra 71-1721 ot the Scosche... http://www.scosche.com/scosche...A08RB
That would allow for easy re-installation of the stock HU or aftermarket HUs with Metra 70-1721 or the Scosche... http://www.scosche.com/scosche...HA08B
But if there are no plans in the near future to reinstall the stock HU or something else in an aftermarket HU IMO it is better to just "hard-wire" the aftermarket HU harness to the stock harness.
