Default Slighty OT: Mounting of Wideband in car?

Hi, I had just picked up the zeitronix wideband sensor (with EGT, boost) and I'd like to mount it where the stock clock sits (great spot, easy to read).

The dimensions seem to be a bit bigger than the hole (a very little bit, dimensions are 4.7" x 2" x 0.9"). Does anyone know of a way to rig it up so that I can mount the readout there? Or has anyone seen something similar to this?

Here is a pic of the unit itself:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cut a larger hole in your dash.

x2. That would be the cleanest way.

How would I secure it in there? Is there a mounting bracket the clock fits in, or is it held in by just clips?

I had one of these Halmeters mounted in the clock location for a while. simply removed the clock, trimmed some of the dash at the bottom, slid the gauge there upright, and put some double sided tape on the back to keep it in place. no brackets needed. I used to have a pic but dunno what happened to it.

I was thinking of removing the clock and buying the clock cover and modifying it to fit the wideband, does anyone know the dimensions of the clock block off plate? I tried looking on the net but no luck.

why not mount it in your gloveboox with a bracket? that way you can close the box when you aren't using it and thieves won't be tempted by tasty electronics.....

also keep in mind that mounting it in the clock location will give you some nice glare and render it useless during some daytime hours.

I agree that in the glovebox would be nice since no one would see it, but I figure if I mounted it well enough in the clock location (i'm talking, inside the dash) no one would be able to tell it was a wideband annyways (the casing is all black on my unit).

I pulled the clock out last night and tried to see how much material I'd have to cut away and it seemed like quite a bit, I wish I had a spare dash kicking around so I could just hack away at it, but I don't want to hurt her

If anyone has pics of equipment mounted in-dash where the clock is located that would be great.
