LS/VTEC Turbo : LS Oil Pump OK If I keep limiter at 7000
Hey guys,
Buying a stock internal ls/vtec, but not planning on revving past the stock ls rev limiter, just using the head for a bit more v.e. up high.
Just wondering if the LS pump is going to be enough for pushing enough oil for the turbo and vtec.. Thanks. I'll be using the ls water pump too.
OBD1 B18A block, OBD0 B16A head if it's any relevence.

without reving it to 8200 it will defeat the whole purpose of doing the swap. you will be fine with ls oil pump and water.
Well that's good news on the pump, but your other comment is debatable.
Everyone knows how exciting the stock LS torque curve is after 5500 rpm; Since I was boosting anyway, I won't count the cost of head bolts or head gaskets; the total cost of going lsvtec was 80 + 325 + 80 for the head + gsr cams + oil lines = $360 US dollars. Since the turbo I am going to use is quite small, I am much more inclined to have a broad, but lower torque band, rather than plenty of mid-range torque, then it dropping off as the head is struggling for v.e. and the compressor is now a heater.
