Default h22 vtec not working all the time

93 honda prelude, h22a, when the motor is cold it doesnt engage, naturally, but when it is warm, not at operating temp it engages strong, but when it starts to get up to operating temp it starts to cut out and then at full operating temp it doesnt engage at all, i have replaced the solenoid and the oil pressure switch, and the oil pump, the ohms between, the solenoid, and the pressure switch wires is fine and all the grounds are good, and i manually tested the solenoid, and it engages every time just fine, so if anyone can give me advise and what to do next i would appreciate it

man its been awhile since i saw someone post vtecH instead of VTEC.

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=830163

vtec is based off oil pressure. the engine doesnt produce enough oil pressure when its cold in order to lock the vtec rocker arm.

First of all, you need to figure out where your oil is going if you are going to keep trying to "test" vtec.

Secondly, you say your vtec wire is hooked up - how about the other wire that goes to the vtec pressure sensor? Is the ground of the solenoid hooked up?

Check your oil pan for dents, and your oil level.
