tranny noise......any suggestions??
the tranny seems to be smooth while accelerating, however when i release the gas pedal and the tranny is slowing the car down it sounds like the car is whining or congested. Its tough to explain.
also, when i put the car inn neutral and let it coast from say 20km/hr the tranny chatters....u can hear it slowing down. Im sure its the tranny and not the motor.
anyways i dont think any of these are normal....any suggestions before I take it to the dealer??

Whats up dude?
Welcome to my to my life. I've had that exact same thing for a while. It's your main tranny bearing (throwout bearing). It's pooched. Needs replacing.
At idol in neutral, listen for a humming/chattering sound ..... now press in the clutch. Sound goes away? Then quickly release the clutch ... sound comes back? Throwout bearing.

No, the throwout bearing works only when the clutch is pressed. If it goes away when you press down an internal tranny bearing, almost always the front mainshaft bearing aka input shaft.

This is a common ITR problem. More $....Good luck

I takes at least a day, the tranny needs to be pulled, disassembled and rebuilt. Make sure that whoever does it inspects all of the internal parts(syncros, gears etc..) better to fix it while the tranny is already off than later.

I got a quote from a local Canadian Acura dealership for around $2000CDN to replace the clutch and synchro 2-3, so it's going to be in that order to replace the input shaft bearing as well.
