what's a good engine coolant?

water wetter? what do you get this?
Its an addative that helps lower temps in the engine coolent. It works best with pure water however some of us cant do that since it drops below freezing sometimes...
Im sure you can pick it up at auto zone or something... If not, try a motorcycle shop. They usually have it.
You don't use straight coolant in your system. No coolant is like this you always have to water it down (except for retail premix junk).
I used a 3:1 ratio water/coolant. I don't drive my car in the winter, so I don't have to worry about freeze point. Some people run just straight water and others will vary usually between 99%/1%-50/50 water/coolant. There is some argument about the negative effects of running straight water. It offers no corrosion protection. Weather this is even significant is debatable. Whatever the case, I would use distilled, deionized water to mix.
If I was you in T.O. I would probably go with 60/40 if I drove in the winter. If not, water is a better thermal absorber than coolant so the more water the cooler the engine. Just add a little coolant for a beautiful green hue and that peace of mind your chit won't oxidize on the inside.

Just mix up your coolant batch and poor it in. Then add the water wetter. Its on the bottle the ratios to use... I cant remember them off the top of my head.
You add the water wetter after you already have taken care of the coolent situation
1 mix distilled water and coolent
2 add to radiator
3 add water wetter to proper ratio

The best thing to use (IMO), is NEO's Keep Cool if you
are in areas where you are not in freezing temperatures.

Since you are in Toronto, I wouldn't recommend Neo's Keep Cool during your cold wintas
-aoib0t, who will use this when he gets a chance to change off his coolant.

what about lower temperature thermostats causes premature engine wear?

I need someone to confirm but from what I understand
Honda Type I coolant = straight coolant, needs to be mixed w/ water
Honda Type II coolant = pre mixed, ready to be poured in.
My (2001) manual says to use Type II.
