B18C5 - 97+ US Type-R
B18C3 - 97-98 EURO Type-R
B18C6 - 99+ EURO Type-R
B18C7 - Australian Type-R
B18C - 96+ JDM Type-R
On JDM B18C, look for the B16 styled intake manifold, PR3 stamped on head and P73 stamped on the back of the block. All ITRs have red valve covers, but don't make your decision based solely on the color of the valve cover.

Sorry, don't mean to jack your thread because I don't wanna start another one but, how can you tell the difference between a JDM ITR with a 4.4 final drive, and JDM ITR with a 4.785 FD. i know alot of places will list the different ITR motors seperatly, but as the buyer how would I tell the difference by looking at the motor. I don't plan on buying one now, but always wondered how to tell the difference.
I suppose you could take off the casing and count the teeth.
I burn up clutches and transmissions so often that I never really cared to look at the differences, I just know that if i'm doing a canyon run and i'm in second gear the whole time, some ******* ripped me off and sent me an LS gearset (its happened twice before).

It says LSD on both versions, however one is designated 4.4 and the other 4.7, but I can't remember the exact markings.
