Default Shift Solenoid

I recently got the error P0753 Shift Solenoid A circuit electrical. Is this likely just a solenoid problem that needs to be replaced? If so, approximately how much should this repair cost?

Vehicle Information:
1997 Honda Accord EX 4 cyl

Thanks(very quick). Can anyone also tell me exactly is going on with the transmission/engine since it has a bad solenoid and how it effects the car?

Your transmission is not going to shift correctly
(when mine went it started off in 2nd and shifted into 4th so i had two gears)

The acceleration is going to be affected because

the gears and your engines powerband are going to get messed up
for example starting out from a dead stop in 2nd gear without being able to shift into 1st gear is going to take you awhile to get up to speed.

Does your car drive differently

It has always been kind of jerky, on the shifts. I'm taking it to the honda dealer tomorrow to get the repairs done. I'll listen carefully tonight to the change in shifts.

About how quick does that do damage to the gears?

Update: Brought the car to the Honda dealer and they said work didnt need to be done. Their check was for just the code (unfortunately it had been cleared).

If the error code was cleared, will it eventually come back up again or is it a one time thing? The original error as mentioned was shift solenoid circuit electrical P0753.
