Default sohc turbo build 10.1 compression?

I know higher compression set ups are more prone to detonation, but the higher compression you have the more power you can make from less boost. But tuning must be precise so that you dont detonate, my d15b7 with 9.0 compression forged internals and a built z6 head with z6 gasket calculates just over 10.10 compression, is that a good compression to use or is it tooooo high? Its for a drag car we are building, but if 10.10 is too much i can go with the z6 block and drop it back down to the lower 9's

but if i can use d16z6 pisons on d15b7 rods i could get it back down to 8's compression... would that be better? will the z6 pistons work?

Are you looking to run on pump gas or C116?

If you're running race gas I'd keep it high comp, if you're looking to use pump gas I'd knock the compression down to 9:1 like you said.

its a drag car so race gas... it will only see 93 octane at first start up but never be raced/tuned on pump gas

which compression calculator are you using? the one on solblu's site factors in that you will be using D15Z1 (VX) rods which are 3mm longer than your B7 rods. also, you cannot use D15 rods in a D16 block with D16 crank. the big end of the rods are different size.

as far as the compression, 10.10 is fine as long as the tune is good. what compression ratio do you think stock b-series are? do you see people boosting stock b-series engines all day long? yep. if you are serious about running on race gas and want even higher compression, check my sig for some slightly domed forged Arias pistons.
