i'd like to hear your opinions on supercharging a jdm itr motor. i've always thought that itr's were best when NA, but lately i've felt the need to try something new, guess i got used to the power. i searched the archives, but there aren't many recent posts on it ( most of the posts are before the advent of standalone management and crome). tnx for your opinions

Check the gain over the gsr from 72-84. The biggest problem you'll have is heat, but there are ways to help cool the intake charge like the LHT system.
Don't turn this into a tc vs. sc debate, both can be awesome when done right.
We build NA, S/C and Turbo cars. Depends what you want to do with the car, The Blower will give you more TQ at 3,000 rpms than an all motor set up and feel alot stronger. Turbo will give you much more power potential.
You got to look at the options.

Jenvey ITB's $2500 lol
S300 $600
Cams are relative...Toda D's $1200, Rocket cams...i believe they are MUCH less no?
regardless, if you wanna have like 270 whp with alot of torque go SC.
If you want raw power go with a serious NA build
If you wanan have 500whp, go with turbo lol

yea those are expensive and you can get better priced cams that will do the job. also, why would you kill vtech if you were staying all motor, or even turbo/sc? Having that much power in an all motor b series motor would not be a reliable car.
lht is great,
that chart looks like the itr motor WANTS to make more power, but just doesn't..
probably the heat like it was said.
lht would take care of that,
but you'd still need to tune it real well!

what he said. people overrate lag, you can have lag with any type of setup.. its the matter of putting together the right parts. plus you can control the powerband from inside the cabin. you can't use boost controller on belt driven compressors.. theres just too many advantages to turbocharging.

what...you mean traction. use the turbo lag for traction and you don't have to be in boost all the time. to me, turbo is a no brainer compaired to sc'er.

have you driven a nicely done supercharged car? They are pretty damn fun to drive.
I drive a 400hp turbo car but I definately have love for s/c'ers.
I got the chance to drive a supercharged RSX-S with cams,h/e and hondata and it was really damn fun. Id love to have one as a daily.

please tell us what you are looking for in terms of power and where you want that power to be in the rpm band... what type of racing do you do?
