Default Hit 100,000 miles and finally got a Winter Beater

First of all, About 1 week ago, I hit a milestone for my 97'

After 4 winters of driving my car in all elements since owning the car, I decided the daily driving has taken enough of a toll on the R. No more of this. The gunmetal Millenias and snow tires shown below are for sale BTW....see sale thread for this forum for more info

This weekend I bought a 1988 CRX HF with 163,000 miles. Doesn't leak or burn oil. Kept up on maintenance and best of all cheap. Engine bay was as clean if not cleaner than the Type R's engine bay. Body is a bit rusty, but not terrible. Here's a picture of the less rusty side of the car. Should be cheap to drive and maintain and great for driving downtown to work. Has CRX Si seats and thats it. 62 Mindblowing horsepower. I don't know if I can control this beast.

The part about the CRX I get the biggest kick out of is the shift light that tells you when to shift for the best fuel economy (2500 RPM )

Now my R can look like this most of the time

No, Maybe some day. I want a bike and so does my wife

Thats the driveway of the guy I bought the CRX from. He had an NSX and his buddy had the bike.

Its about time you let that baby rest for the winter. Although, I'm gonna miss seeing it in the snow.

Should have done it long time ago to keep the mileage down. Good luck!

You got that right, but other financial responsibilities Owned me and I was a poor college student. I'm finally making some money now that I've been out of school for over a year. Not enough for that house in the background though. My wife and I own a simple tri-level home

Paid $825 for the beater but it needed an alternator. Found a used OEM one for $50. Soo I paid $875 with a Panasonic CD/MP3 player in it. About as good as its gonna get for that price. Had new clutch, newer tires, new CV's, drives strait as it ever could. Transmission shifts smooth. Has a few minor quirks for me to work out but what do I expect for this price.

Yup, I'm a cheap bastard. Plan is to drive the CRX for a year or two as the beater, then upgrade to a more respectable beater.

larkin, that picture of your car riddled in snow is awesome! great to see your car endure so much. i guess your '97 can get some "rest" now.

I rock an 88 CRX DX for my DD..... no shift light.

Mine is also rated at under 100hp, still a fun *** car though.

That's funny. There is a guy around where I live that has a blue CRX and an NSX. Maybe the CRX's came bundled together with the NSX, like those toothpastes with the trial-sized mouthwash?

man, how bad is winter on cars? I live in Houston and it has snowed about three times in the past 25 years, so I have no clues what the deal is about the winter time on cars

My front end has plenty of pits and chips for road salt and gravel that gets flung at the front end. Rust isn't much of an issue if you re-undercoat the rear wheel wells from time to time and keep a good coat of wax on your car. I Detail my car quite offten soo the paint is nice besides chips, dings, scratches. I have a few of each
