Default Finishe Type-S swap...few Qs

Just finished swaping in my Type-S engine. Pretty straight up swap. Bought the motor from HMO and it was super clean. Started right up no problem and runs like a champ.

I noticed that the oil pump and distributor are not the same i have on my 98 SH, the engine has no external coil, the oil pump doesnt have a CKP sensor.

So my question is, where would i buy this JDM distributor or oil pump if they were ever to fail? Are they the same as any USDM models?

I've seen what is advertized as a type S distributor on distributorking.com, but ?? on that one. I'd be interested in seeing a pic of the dizzy though.

I dont understand...you completed the swap and got the motor to start...how does it start with out the CKP sensor? matter of fact how do you start it without the exterenal coil dizzy?

The distributor that came with your motor is a JDM dizzy...all internal coil...what you need is the oil pump assembly off of your h22a4 to mount the CKP sensor on..use all the **** off of your old h22a4

Edit: but ****...you got the motor up and running like a champ already (which i dont understand)...why bother with all of this?

The CKP sensor is not necesarly needed. OBDI cars do not have CKP sensors. BUt like .Michael said, i want to know where i could find a replacement dizzy now before it goes bad.

I am using the JDM engine harness and ECU. I dont have emmissions where i live so i can use the JDM dizzy and oil pump and not worry about emmisions.

obd1 cars have ckp sensors as well, they are in the distributor....which is assumedly where it is on the type-s as well.

If I can't find a USDM Type SH swap I'm going to be going your route also. How much did HMO charge you for shipping?

So you used your stock axels and stock mounts?

I've got quite a few questions, been out of the loop for a while. I might throw you a PM if ya don't mind..

HMO charged $175 for shipping. The engine came packed real nice and it was super clean. Very happy with the quality.

I used my SH axels and stock mounts. The engine is pretty much an SH engine. It came with the tranny and ATTS unit.

Feel free to PM me with any questions you might have if you decide to go Type-S. If your interested i will be selling my old SH motor with tranny and ATTS in about a month. Im going to be cleaning it and putting it back together before i sell it.

The Type S was an OBD2 motor wasnt it? But you can try to convert to external I think a USDM h22 dizzy will work but dont quote me on that. As mentioned the sensor should be inside the dizzy. If its obd2 the sensor is down there by the crank.
