Mini-Me misfiring
My mini-me has had a stuttering problem I think is misfiring since I've had it. I used a new (reman) dizzy from NAPA, about 5k miles/4 months old, Jackson Racing 8mm wires (made by magnecor I think), and I've tried 3 different kinds of plugs. Right now I'm running OE plugs gapped to 0.035. Reducing the gap from stock 0.044 or whatever helped a little, but I don't think I should have to go so low. I also tried a brand new set of OEM wires today and no change.
The setup:
A6 block, Y8 head, previously had PM7 pistons, but I just rebuilt the motor the other day and changed them out for some PM6s because I thought the stuttering had to do with the high compression (tuning it with Crome was a bitch!). Now it's still stuttering on the normal mini-me setup. I'm running it OBD1 on a chipped P28 with a Y8 basemap. I have a AEM 3" cold air intake from a 2000 Civic Si on a Z6 manifold, DC 4-2-1 header, and a custom 2.25 inch exhaust (no cat or muffler, just res tube and glass pack tip).
The stuttering is intermittent, sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't in the exact same conditions. Usually it's at low speed/RPM, like leaving a stop or something. I also noticed my idle is dipping low when I push the clutch in and go to neutral, like the needle gets close to 200 or 300 RPM sometimes (but I'm running a 12lb flywheel, that may be it).
Should I gap lower? I'm going to get a replacement dizzy today but I feel like it shouldn't be the problem.
