Remote Start - WITHOUT Alarm *Easy DIY?*
Im in the market for a remote car starter. My car is an 88 Crx si and it has no alarm nor do I really have much need for one right now but a canadian winter is coming and I have to drive this car, it takes forever to produce heat
The car is a 5 speed but somehow (previous owner) you dont have to deprsss the clutch to start the car. So I think that helps right?
If someone could help me find a cheap product that will get the job done all winter long from my house almost 125ft away and help with the installation and whats involved in the install Id apprecaite it
Thanks!

There are a few remote starts for standard transmission cars, [fail-safe to prevent car from starting in gear].
At the top of the list is Compustar... http://www.compustar.com/remote_start.htm
midway is Audiovox/Prestige... http://www.audiovox.com/webapp...Id=-1
at the entry level end is Autostart... http://www.autostart.ca/HTML_Frame.htm
and Polar start... http://www.canadaautoaccessory....html
When I say "midway" and "entry level end" I mean units that are still very dependable units, and all units I have installed more then a few of.
You can also get an "inexpensive" one from Bulldog, [Deluxe 500]... http://www.bulldogsecurity.com/
Install of a remote start is pretty much the same for all remote starts, [same number of connections have to be made, to the same wires in your car.
Here is a tag in sheet for your car... http://www.directwholesale.net...eID=3 and... http://www.the12volt.com/insta...ruise -.... http://www.the12volt.com/insta...Alarm
Feel free to IM me if you have questions.

You need this fail safe mode! I seen people that say- o i allways leave my car in netural. Then bam. there car hits something. Look at all the threads about it. Hell i am a installer and my **** hit a lexus. $2500 to paint and fix a bummper and tail lights. Friend left the car in gear. Owner only wanted the lexus dealer to fix. But I was young at 17. You can go get one thats made for auto and put it on a 5 speed but no shop is really going to do it. What are you going to do when your car hit someone and hurt someone or kills them or hit a wall or a car. Do things the right way and be safe. Better then jail time or lost wages
Oyea the e-brake is not going to keep the car put!

You may always put it in neutral and set the "E" brake but chit happens, think of it this way, lets say for whatever reason the car is left or put in gear and you remotely start it, its parked a few feet behind some ones car, and some one, [your mom] is getting something out of the trunk, your car will not only lurch ahead hitting you mom, it will do it 3 times, or how about it's your kid sister and her friend from next door playing in front of your car and you run into/over them how would you feel then, [just because you didn't want fail-safes]
If you do hit someone do you think they will sue you, you bet they will, and they will win, your insurance will not pay, you bypassed a safety device, how would you like to be paying someones lost wages for the rest of your life, much less live with the fact that you injured or killed someone, and all because you didn't want to spend 2 more sec. in your car.

Cool. Now common sence is kicking in. Save yourself the trouble of making up a failsafe for the dei. Get the compustar because it comes with it allready built in. I like that instead of rigging something up. Rigging can allways fail sometimes if not done right or by a pro. Hit "fcm" up. He is in your area and maybe can install it for you. And he is a dealer for compustar. Plus he has the experince to do the job right and correctly. What most shops lack or don't take the time to do.

</TD></TR></TABLE> Ditto that, and I thought I knew Canada but hell if I can find ******* Gtown not even at Google Earth.
In your casePINKS it is the same exact install as on a auto transmission, except you have to connect up the door pins, [easy on a Honda/Acura] your "Clutch Interlock Switch" has already been "bypassed", [probably unplugged and jumper installed] so the "status" output lead does not have to be connected to the "CIS", and of coarse you have to have a remote start for manual transmission cars, in the case of the Compustar it comes as one for a manual, a jumper needs to be cut to use in an automatic.

If your going to put a remote start on a manual car, you have to do it the right way. A while back i bought a hatch that had remote start, and a clutch bypass, and within 1 hour of owning the car i had already attempted to start it while in gear. Do not mess aroudn with something like that, just do it right

No they don't. Only the Compustar.</TD></TR></TABLE> Not so, there are a few more remote starts for standard transmission cars out there other then Compustar, Autostart, Polarstart, Audiovox and a few more, but the Compustar IMO is by far the best.

It sure does seem to have a hell of a lot of connections but Im assuming since I dont have power locks, windows, truck etc that I wont be using alot of them right?
Im gonna read through the instructions as best I can
Im an absolutely wiring noob, so Id be willing to pay for some quality help via paypal
Definetely need help with an easy install

Like this... http://www.canadiantire.ca/gat...s.htm Prostart is made by Autostart, who also make Polarstart... http://www.autostart.ca/USA/HTML_Frame.htm and made right here in Canada, they make a very dependable product.
