i've had my exhaust installed for many years now. lately, i heard some clinking sound and it lasted for several weeks. all of a sudden, that sound disappeared and now some rattling sound has been appearing. i first thought it was my brake or rotors, but i figure it wasn't since the sound doesn't go away even when i an in park or driving.

brought my car back to my dealer for inspection and they said it is coming from the B pipe and the exhaust. they said i can change the B pipe and exhaust or i can have them re-install a new stock muffler (for $500 + tax). of course not going back to stock..

does anyone know what is the B pipe? i want to know what i need to do before going back to the shop who installed my exhaust for me several years ago. thanks!

 

B-Pipe is the lower section of your exhaust manifold, some people call it a downpipe, but since it's a non-turbo car it's otherwise known as a b-pipe.


B-pipes don't rattle, i'm sure it's the heat shield on your catalytic converter, they tend to go bad on hondas.

 

it can't be the heat shield bc i removed it a few years ago when it was starting to come off.

according to the mechanic at my dealer, he said it was my exhaust and b pipe. i haven't had time to bring it to any shops to take a look.

any suggestions? it's annoying and embarrassing that it's making so much rattling sound, as if it's a junk car.
