That code sounds a little vague. I'm sure you wouldn't have mush trouble fighting it with a competent lawyer. Exactly what is excessive, anyway?

in the Commonwealth of VA blow jobs are also illegal. It is a very old law and i can't find the info on it but apparently it is true.

If you're running around like Bryan does, with a straight pipe and N1 muffler, you stand a good chance of getting a ticket.
Why must you always put my business out there? My car is loud, and I usually dont keep the Spoon N1 on the car for street driving. I will be taking it off after a May 3rd track day. For the record I have a JDM header, test pipe, stock Bpipe and the N1. Its LOUD!!

But...FYI, Bryan was stopped for speeding just the other day, and did not get a ticket of any kind.
Forgot to mention it was in your riced out pce of poo... I was going 65 in a 55, he just wanted to see if I was running N0SS, y0

It hints of deep-rooted communist intentions in the VA executive government. Fight the oppression before they take your souls!

So if you combined that, and a loud muffler, you could see jail time, huh?

Only if you were driving a car with a loud exhaust while simultaneously recieving said treatment. Although, at that point, you would have everything any man ever wanted.

Is it a new law? If not, I've never heard of it being inforced. My mustang is deafining, and I've drivin it that way for 9 years now. Of course I dont dog it around cops either.

This is way off topic, but it deals with big brother watching us. In our local paper today there's an artical, "Who's minding the kids?" In the article there is the following quote, "You want to find the isolated, clueless caregivers and give them help" by Richard Brandon who is a senior researcher at the University of Washington. Who was Brandon referring to? Answer, the nearly 1/3 of paid child care workers who are RELATIVES who often lack training and government oversight!

So now the government wants to "train" the clueless grandmothers and aunts who are taking care of the children and provide oversight in our homes! Because we all know it's better to let a stranger (day care) take care of your child than a family member Guys just remember whenever our government passes a law, in many cases they take a freedom away from us.

SMSP - Who's happy Clinton failed and Gore didn't get elected or else we'd have government health care and mandatory government grandma training.

VA laws (and other states I'm sure) are mostly a waste of time and when enforced they tie up the court system with minor issues that could be overlooked so they (law makers and law enforcement) could focus on much more important legal issues and much more serious crimes that take place!

Not that it matters but sometimes speaking your mind (properly) in court to argue your case does help.

I had a "No front tag" ticket once... so I figured why not go to court and fight it
So before my court date arrived I stopped by the courthouse and took pictures of several county vehicles that had NO front tags so I could show the judge that some county vehicles were in violation.
I also mentioned that I felt harrassed and that the officer could have been spending his time doing more productive law enforcement duties rather than going out of his way to pull me over for no front tag.
2 hours of my time well spent, it saved me the $50 fine plus court fees.
Case was dismissed.

And YES... I still drive with NO front tag!
I'm a rebel without a cause.

The day after the city stickers were out of date the Frederickburg police were going through my apartment complex between midnight and 1:30am and writing tickets, $100 fine for a $10 ticket! You wouldn't believe how many tickets they wrote.

Plus my truck isn't included in the vehicle property tax reduction program because it has a gross wight of over 7500 pounds

yeah, it's true. but whether you get a ticket for it or not depends on the cop. examples:

my friend and i installed his 3" thermal on his eclipse a couple weeks ago. we took it for a spin, within 10 minutes, we got a ticket.

i've never gotten a ticket in my car. and people that know me know how absurdly loud it is

i've gotten pulled for expired inspection and gotten a verbal warning for the exhaust. i've had a cop ask me if my stock exhaust was aftermarket. i've also been in front of a few at a light and have them completely ignore me.

I just got pulled over in my civic coming back from lunch the other day. I saw a trooper in the turn lane ahead. As I passed him at 35 MPH, he pulled out behind. He pulled me over at the next light. I got a ticket for modified suspension and loud exhaust. I am running a 3" Thermal with a cat that is legit. I was only going 35, barely on throttle. As for suspension, my 91 Civic has Tokico Blues and Neuspeed Sport Springs and is NO WAY NEAR as low as some with adj. coilovers. I'd say it's 1.5" lower than stock.

I must say that it was a pleasant experience though. The state trooper was very polite and I had actually commended him on it as I was shocked. I got a ticket for unapproved mods (1 ticket). He asked if I race, lol as I said no. Poor lil 326whp civic hasn't seen a race yet!

Thanks,
Victor Perri II

I've gotten hit with this. I got to read the code book and all.
Its not even a fix it ticket. Its a 30$ fine. Big whoop. Pay it and be on your way.

I've also been told my STOCK exhaust was aftermarket and too loud before.

i had an accord with an apexi dunk exhaust and was cited for that exact law and code......yeah, it was loud and visible and now on my integra I have a Apexi WS and the muffler is painted a flat black with the tip still being stainless finish so it looks sorta stock (except the tip is big) and its not loud and cops dont even look twice at it.....

haha, in fact i got pulled over the other night for going 80 in a 35 (it was 2am) and he came up and was asking if i thought the speed limit was 55 and i said, no sir Im not going to try to lie i was going to fast and thats why i pulled over as soon as you passed me in the opposite direction (i passed him, i saw him flip the strobes so i just pulled over) and he noted to me that i had my car all "spiffy" and noted how it was lowered and how i have the wide tires (just azenis on stock wheels) and noted my apexi el tach and asked how come i didnt have a shiny big loud exhaust, i said....sir, i do. he had a confused look and was like, huh? i said, that exhaust is an aftermarket unit that i painted flat black and since its chambered and not straight through it looks stockish and isnt loud and he was like, wow that could have fooled me anyday i didnt hear it or notice it at all. I was just smiling.....when he came back to the car after running my info he was cool too, let me off with a warning. so far the count is for me: 11 times pulled over 3 times with a ticket (none for speeding) 11 different cops, only 1 of them was a dick....the one that cited me for the exhaust on my accord, all the others were very courteous and professional and didnt make me wait in my car for 45 minutes like the guy did that cited me for my dunk exhaust......oh well, maybe he was having a bad day?
